Polar Bear Camp Out in Bastrop

Our next camp out is scheduled for January 30th, 31st and February 1st. We will be camping in the Family Camping area at Camp Tom Wooten which is in Bastrop. The cost of the camp out has been set at $10 per person. Not only is the camping less expensive, there is no daily entry fee either.

Blue & Gold Banquet

We have scheduled our Blue & Gold event for February 9th. Blue & Gold is essentially the birthday party for scouting. This year we will be having a catered banquet with beef and chicken fajitas. The cost for this event is $7.00 for adults and teenagers. The Pack will pay the cost for the boys and younger siblings. This night will also be our next award presentation. We will probably be starting at 6:30pm for this event.

Pinewood Derby

Our annual Pinewood Derby is scheduled for either Saturday February 21st or Monday February 23rd. By a show of hands it was decided to try to have the race on Saturday but we need to check on the availability of the VFW Hall before we make this date firm. In addition, this year all cars must be purchased from the Pack. We will be selling them to the boys at cost which should be about $4. This way we can assure that all cars used are regulation BSA Pinewood Derby Cars and we can assign each boy a race number. This will enable John Conquest to set up his race database prior to the race. We will go over rules in more detail later. For now know that in order race you must use a BSA Pinewood Derby Car and the car cannot weigh more than 5 oz. If you want to purchase multiple cars that is fine. If we race on Saturday we should have plenty of time to have an open class which is when the Dads and siblings can race their cars.
